Cedar naturally pulls red and orange undertones

Most stains amplify those undertones instead of correcting them

Hardware store finishes weren't formulated for cedar

The result never matches the vision

Why Wood Turns Orange — And Why Most Stains Make It Worse

The Cedar Method

This Is Tone Correction — Not Just Stain

We don't pick a color and hope for the best. We correct the undertones in the wood first — then apply tone. Every StainHaus finish is formulated with that correction built in. That's what makes the result look designed, not just covered.

Every tone is intentional. Every result is designed.

Why Sealing Your Cedar Isn’t Optional

This cedar is gorgeous right now. Give it one season unprotected and it won’t be.
In direct sunlight, raw cedar starts losing its color in just a few months. UV rays break down its natural protective oils. Then water gets in. Then grey. Then dry. Then rot.

Sealed and maintained cedar can last 20–40 years. Unsealed cedar in a wet or sunny environment starts showing real damage in as little as 5–10 years.

The Cedar Method™ seals and corrects in one process — tone and protection together. Not two steps. Not an add-on. Just done right the first time.

Designed to give you the same refined results — without the guesswork.

Every cedar build I saw looked orange. Not because the wood was wrong — because nobody was correcting the undertone before applying stain. They were just covering it and hoping for the best.

I'm Mandi Kamish, founder of StainHaus and a wood tone correction specialist based in Orange County, CA. I built this studio around one idea: that the finish should look intentional. Not accidental. Not hardware store. Designed.

That's what The Cedar Method™ is. And it's the only way I work.

Refined wood isn’t luck. It’s control.
